So we have already re-introduced Coty and it was only fitting that it would be my turn. I turned the blog over to Coty and let him fill out some questions and now I’m answering them! This should be interesting…
Let’s start off easy, favorite starbucks drink? White Mochas on ice or a green tea lemonade if I’m feeling healthy
How is it working with your husband full time? Geez, I get a starbucks question then this! To be honest I cannot picture life any other way. I feel like I am constantly letting God change my heart and He really humbled us this year and I can’t imagine us doing anything else. The hardest part is exactly what Amy & Jordan said at the Come Together Event, we both sometimes think our agenda has priority over the other’s agenda and that sometimes causes friction. I think when we set aside our agendas and we come to the conclusion that we’re a team, things go so much better! So to sum that all up, its so fun and so hard but SO rewarding!
Biggest pet peeve of working with your husband? You are such a hard worker and so focused and I on the other hand are so ADD and so all over the place so we tend to clash when it comes to workflow. You can edit a wedding in 2 days, one day if you had the house to yourself and the grass was mowed the day before. I on the other hand would take weeks because I’d get an email, would plan a styled shoot, need to organize my pinterest board, need to blog or even post a photo on facebook.
Favorite lens you use and why? My go to lens is the 50mm but I’ve fallen in love with the 85mm. I have to say that my digital 85 mm photos really match up with my film photos better. So crisp and the bokeh is so good.
What is your favorite part of the wedding day? oh… the whole day. Ha! I’m going to be cliche’ and say the moment the Groom sees his Bride. Its romantic, classic and if done in a first look its so easy to capture that sweet emotion from both the Bride & Groom. I also love a good Father of the Bride moment. When a dad gets to see his little girl all dressed in white, I tend to tear up a little bit. I’ve mastered photographing through the tears, its a gift.
If you could shoot a wedding anywhere, where would it be and why? Coty Ray, this is not nice! How can I pick one location! I’ll pick an international location and a states location! So I’d have to say Boone Hall Plantation. The mossy covered tree line drive and the romantic southern mansion, that is pretty much perfection. Internationally I’d shoot in Santorini Greece. My heart swoons over blue and white villages and that gorgeous sea. Okay one more, Haiku Mill in Maui. Its the states but far enough away that you feel international, its the most gorgeous venue ever. Every time I see those gorgeous flowers dripping down the courtyard I want to hop on a plane and just move there! So gorgeous! I’ll stop with Haiku Mill.
If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be doing? Well I’d still be in the wedding business which is no surprise. I’d probably be a Wedding Planner & Designer for sure. I have wanted to be a planner my whole life, I still have a tub of bridal magazines at my parents that I started collecting as a little girl. Every time we flew somewhere I’d buy a wedding magazine and my heart just would skip a beat for those gorgeous dresses, floral details and all the sweet photos. When I’d take those silly quizzes in high school and college my favorite movies were Father of the Bride, Runaway Bride, The Wedding Planner and My Best Friends Wedding. I promise my love of movies has evolved, I still love those classics though!
Well that wasn’t too bad! I thought he’d ask me something embarrassing since he loves to take awful photos of me during weddings! Thank goodness that didn’t happen! I can still remember this hilariously awful photo he took of me trying to back out of a photo and oh goodness, it was bad! He then showed it to the bride and groom and they lost it, and I was looking at this photo thinking oh my gosh, they have now seen the worst photo taken of me of ALL TIME! And now I’ve told you this story so now I’m hoping there isn’t proof of this horrible photo. That is pretty much my husband in a nutshell, always making me laugh at my expense of course. Well stay tuned for some beautiful film photos tomorrow as we follow suite of many other photographers and do a Film Friday post! Its going to be gorgeous!
