Seeing that we’ve shot over 100 weddings and I’m a little bit of a wedding fanatic, I try to keep up with the trends. I decided to scope out Theknot.com this afternoon for top 10 trends of the year for wedding dresses. With already having 5 weddings under our belt for this year I can tell right away what might be in style! Ashley’s recent dress was amazing and I had a feeling it would be on the top 10 trends and it was, I definitely hope to see more of her design this year on our brides! So here is the top ten list from The Knot on whats fabulous for the 2011 bride!
10. Ruffles… what did I say? Ashley, you were DEFINITELY in style this year. It was gorgeous, you were gorgeous!
9. Tea Length. I’m dying to see one of our brides wear a tea length dress… if not for the ceremony then definitely for the reception! Check out Matthew Christopher’s 2011 Collection, you’ll see that “Where the Boys Are” is perfection when it comes to a tea length wedding gown!
8. Gold. Not too sure what I think about this one.
7. Black Accent. Love this. Matthew Christopher also has another dress thats perfect for our countdown, check out “Going to the Chapel”. I remember growing up my mom used to hate to see women wearing black at a wedding. She’d love to hear that wearing black as a guest, bridesmaid or on your gown is now THE thing to do!
6. Vintage Beading. Love love LOVE this! I’m all about my details and whether its a vintage necklace, earrings, ring or beeding on the dress, I love my vintage! I remember a bride of ours actually having papers with her dress saying her beads were officially vintage. So it was official y’all.
5. Shimmer. For you winter brides, I think this is for you. Shimmer like the first snow in December.
4. Sheer Necklines. Thank you Princess Kate for bringing this trend back. With the royal wedding I think thousands were trying to figure out what she was going to wear and in the end brought back a trend that some of our mothers even had when they walked down the aisle.
3. Corset Bodices- Visible Boning. Again, not too sure about this one. Carrie Underwood donned a Monique Lhuillier gone with visible boning. Pretty sure she’s the only one that can pull that off. I remember watching episodes of “Say Yes to the Dress” and those dresses were SO popular in 2006/2007.
2. Floppy Skirts- The vision is the Bride flowing down the aisle. Our recent bride Emily donned a J.Crew gown and she flowed down the aisle.
1. Nude. ???? Seriously? This is the NUMBER ONE trend? Nude is the new white? This reminds me of the scene where Elle Woods on Legallay Blonde says “whoever said orange was the new pink was seriously disturbed.” Well Nude is NOT the new white!
Well those are the top 10 trends. I think Colored shoes should have been in there. Not ONE of my brides has worn white shoes. Love that trend ladies!
