So I am often very surprised I graduated high school. Not because I wasn’t smart enough but because I was very social. I roamed the halls on a daily basis, it was practically my job. Fast-forward oh so many years, I’m now doing something where being social is a good thing! So what is Pursuit Community? “a community of creatives who live to bring God glory through their work, their homes and their lives.” I literally took that off their site because I couldn’t agree more! I first heard of Pursuit a couple years ago and at the time there was not a group meeting in Columbus. I thought about applying but to be honest, I don’t remember finishing the application. I hesitated leading something like that because at that point in my life, I was struggling. Things in my life were a little muddy at the time and we had just had a miscarriage and things were just a little raw. So when we finally got a group in Columbus, I was so excited that someone was more bold than I was to get it going. Speaking of bold… One day I was shopping around Old Navy and this pretty red head and I were chatting it up in the dressing room. She had a cart full of more kids than clothes and we totally hit it off. I often chat to strangers, I’m so my Gramma Pat. As we were getting ready to check out she stopped me and asked if I was Ashley Henry, we then exchanged how she knew me and we had mutual friends and I went home and added her to faceook! Fast-forward a couple years, she now is leading the Columbus Pursuit Group and I cannot tell you how blessed I’ve been by her friendship. This is my first year getting to go and I am thrilled to get to spend some time with these special ladies. I’ve made new friendships, met new creatives here in Ohio and I’ve gotten connected with other women around the country. Recently there has been a huge revival in the community of creatives. I’m so thankful to be surrounding myself with other encouraging and joyful women that its been the most refreshing thing for my heart and my business. After 8 years of shooting weddings I have to admit that it can get lonely and sometimes very competitive. Whether you just bought your camera or you’re like me and you’ve been doing this forever, everyone brings something to the table. I love hearing how some new business owners are running their business. They come into with fresh eyes, excited hearts and the willingness to learn. As for me, I love sharing our story that God has given us and just blessing others with info about this crazy life I lead! We only meet once a month so I literally put the dates that we meet in my calendar as soon as its posted. During wedding season I often refer to myself as a hermit but I made it a goal to not be one this year.
We recently did a little headshot day and I was asked along with two other photographers to take some headshots. I had fun shooting alongside Kari Me Photography and Megan Hill Photography. I sometimes don’t get my photo updated but once a year and its nice to get some new headshots!
For more information on where you can find your nearest Pursuit Community group, go to this link right here! Twice a year they have the most amazing conferences in Georgia and I’ve made it a goal to get to one of these in my life. One day!
