So this week has been a whirlwind of many emotions. I got back from a very wonderful trip to California last week and I was so thankful that I was able to spend time with my Grandparents, especially my Grandma. I can admit while I was there I felt hope that maybe God was healing her body and that we’d have more time on this earth with her. Within days of me coming home I got the news that the tumors had worsened and she didn’t have much time. It obviously was not the news us as a family wanted to hear, especially after a trip like I had. I realize now that its easy to say God has a plan, its something I’ve been taught and I believe. But when HIS plan isn’t quite what we expected, wanted or desired, its a lot harder to believe it then. I’m so thankful that I’m 26 years old and all my Grandparents are living. I know so many that their Grandparents are not longer with us, I’m so blessed to of been able to get to know such amazing influential people such as my Grandparents.
My Grandma and Grandpa Anderson, which is my Dad’s parents, have been married for 53 years and they’re the perfect example of two becoming one. Its amazing how they are in sync with each other and how they groove together. I soaked in the times when Grandpa would rub my Grandma’s feet, walk with her to the patio or help her to bed. When we say our vows we pray that there is more health than sickness but if or when sickness strikes, I do pray that Coty and I can be like my Grandparents. I loved that in the midst of her pain she still had enough strength to tell my Aunt Janelle to take those place mats out of the dryer, hang dry them then iron them. She also had enough strength to ask my why I was throwing away the end of the celery… I’ll never cut up celery again without laughing a little to myself about that moment. No matter what she’s feeling or fighting off, she will forever be a Grandma, wife and Mother and those duties never go away! I’m so thankful, so very thankful for my Grandparents. I’m thankful for the strong Christian foundation that they’ve laid down for this family. I’m thankful for all the prayers they’ve prayed for me and my family. I’m thankful for the example they’ve given as a couple and parents.
So as we go through these next couple weeks, please pray that our family is able to visit safely and spend as much time as we can with her. My mom and 8 months pregnant sister are on their way tomorrow to spend a couple days there. I pray that we’re all able to soak in all the time we have with her and we etch those memories in our minds forever. I know I and my family appreciate your prayers more than you would know. There is such power in prayer! Thank you all!
