I am so excited to finally share with you all our new website & blog. I had no idea at the start of this year that we would rebrand but by February it was so clear that we were going in a new direction with our business. For the first time in three years we are not pregnant at this time. I know a lot of you may or may not know our story but for the last 3 years we have struggled with infertility. Early last year Coty and I were coming to terms that having more children may not be God’s plan for us. That is a hard pill to swallow when for the last couple years you’ve tried everything to have another baby. Little did we know He had twins in our plan and now we have three beautiful kids. For the first time in 3 years our hearts are full and we are so blessed with these children.
So at the beginning of this year, it was as if we had come up from this fog that had been weighing on us and we were ready to hit the ground running. So that is just what we did. We sat down and wrote out our goals, came up with a new business plan, thanked God for the amazing clients we have had over the years and for the ones we’ve booked for this year. We are so excited to put everything we’ve learned to work. We are trying new things with photography and we just feel like we’re growing up in a way. When you’ve shot over 200 weddings you can sometimes feel like you’ve seen and done it all but we are so grateful to be challenging ourselves so we can keep growing. Someone recently told us that when you shoot film you will constantly be learning, and I am so excited to be doing new things to keep this job exciting. So one of the first things we’re adding to our business is film. We’ve shot film on and off for years but we decided to take it to a new level and really incorporate it with our weddings. I recently attended an amazing workshop in DC and I cannot wait to share the things I learned. This helped me catch up to where Coty had been for the last 3 years. We also re-branded to represent our new outlook on our business, with a more fresh, romantic and genuine appearance. We designed a new site through Showit and I am so pleased to tell you that I love it. It was hard to go from a wordpress mindset to a showit mindset but the challenge was exhilarating! We have a whole new packaging for our beloved couples along with some extra nice gifts for them. Coty and I are so excited to be on this journey together and making these awesome changes to our business. Its so easy to just keep going with what you’re doing, its worked this far so why change it right? Well that’s the thing, it may have been working in some areas but in others we needed this change. We needed to make a fresh start because in our personal lives we were making a fresh start as well.
So I’m going to leave you with a quote I heard from my workshop by Ansel Adams… Its officially one of my favorites now.
“You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard and the people you have loved.”
Ansel Adams
