I cannot believe I’m actually writing this. After 8 years in the business I am finally going to offer some photography mentoring sessions. You can ask Coty, he’s been telling me to do this for years but I was never quite ready to do it. I always felt like I wanted to be 100% prepared to teach someone something. Coty and I started shooting film a couple years ago and more recently we really starting taking it seriously. I attended a workshop where the ladies told us that you’ll always be learning when shooting film. I couldn’t have agreed more! I felt like a newbie sitting there, all excited to learn and soaking in every bit of information. That’s how I felt when I first started shooting weddings and this brought on a brand new feeling for me. So Coty and I are finally going to offer mentoring sessions to photographers. Its taken me 8 years to set aside my fears of no one even being interested or what other photographers will think to do this. With all vulnerability set aside, I really feel like we have learned so much over the years and we have something to offer other photographers. This year will mark our 8th season in weddings and we have been so blessed to be a part of over 220 weddings. Over the years we’ve been published in magazines and blogs, been given some fabulous awards, met some amazing people and made a lot of mistakes. I don’t think you’ll meet one self-employed person who hasn’t made a mistake or two.
We will be offering three different types of photography mentoring opportunities, I’m thrilled to finally be sharing with you all how you can work with us!
First, we are a husband and wife team so we really want to focus on couples who want to do this full time. Its not an easy task to quit your full time jobs to do wedding photography full time, its a huge decision and we want to help couples make that decision if that is what their goal is. So first type of session is a couples mentoring session. We would cover topics like how to make the decision to go full time together, marketing as a husband and wife team, SEO details, the flow of a wedding, financial aspect of the business, posing and much more.
The second mentoring session we are going to offer is a one on two session! Because Coty and I are good at different things we would both teach a session to someone. Coty is very technical, great with the seo information and awesome with finances. I work more on the creative end, posing, interacting with clients and their families and stuff like that. So you’ll get a mentoring session with the both of us!
Our third session is huge. This is something I didn’t know we could do but more recently I decided to do it! A REAL WEDDING mentoring session. I was researching showit sites and came across another photographer who is doing something similar to this and I was so excited to realize I wasn’t crazy for wanting to do this! The best way I learned was shadowing a photographer and that is just what we want to offer someone. We want to give photographers the opportunity to come with us to a wedding, shoot along with us and then the next day go over all the details we would in a regular session. I personally believe this is the best way to learn and I am so excited to be offering this. You’d have the chance to see how we interact with REAL couples, how we style some of the details, the family portion of the day and everything else that goes with a real wedding. We will only have a few dates available for this so if you’re interested, don’t hesitate in booking! This is also a two day workshop so meals and freebies will be provided! You know you love freebies!
This has been in the works for some time and we are so blessed to be given the opportunity to share our information with you. In no way do we think we know it all, after 8 years we’re STILL learning but that is the best part of this job. These mentoring opportunities are not just for the new photographers, this is for anyone who needs to be inspired, challenged or maybe needs a new outlook on their already successful business. I was told once to never get comfortable, never ever say “we have made it” because the moment you do, is the moment things start crumbling. I believe that with all my heart. Don’t confuse that with being content because those are two different things. You can be content with your life but still chase the big goals and learn from others. We cannot wait to see where this takes us and who we will be given the oppurtunity to meet, so please contact us so we can book your session today!
I have been inspired by so many quotes lately so I’ll keep sharing until I can’t find anymore!
