As I slid into the booth at California Pizza Kitchen I was so looking forward to catching up with Meleka. We had reconnected on Facebook and she had recently gotten engaged and started her own event planning business. It had been years since I last seen Meleka, but when she walked into CPK she looked exactly the way I remembered her, only this time she was glowing! As we caught up on marriage, being engaged, my business and hers, I could tell she was not the same girl I hung out with in high school who loved Britney Spears and had a framed photo of Ben Affleck in her room… although I think she still likes B.S. and she probably still has a picture of Ben somewhere. She went on about how Kinsey was different than all the guys she dated, he was kind, mature, funny and made her happy. I was so excited to hear how happy she was, and how supportive he was of her new business. I know first hand how hard it is to start something big like that right at the beginning stages of a new marriage. Coty and I had our moments when we started this business but its amazing to see how far God has taken us since then. Its been so fun sharing stories with Meleka, and its nice to have a friend in the industry that isn’t a photographer. I cannot wait to see Meleka and Kinsey say “I do”, I’m more than happy to be the one capturing those moments for her on her big day. Yes… those are Christian Louboutin shoes! After the shoot I called my sister to tell her of the fabulous shoes Meleka was wearing, and she asked me what size Meleka wore.
