Whenever we photograph a couple’s engagement session a year before their wedding, I am always bummed because I have to wait a whole YEAR before I get to see them again. Well not Jez & Zak, we waited a whole week for their wedding! I would almost prefer it this way, everything is so fresh in my mind and it gets us so excited for their wedding. The more the planning fell into place the more she felt like they had a very classic wedding with some personal touches. When we walked through the doors I could see the stress on Jez’s face, getting everything where she wanted it to be, but thankfully her bridesmaids were there to help ease the stress and get to work. This doesn’t always happen at weddings so I was thankful her friends were there. Then came the moment where she said “I’m gonna stop worrying about this and let you guys take care of this, and she went upstairs to get dressed.” It was awesome. Everything turned out perfectly, not to mention the weather was gorgeous! We did have two run ins with law enforcement… yes two… it was hilariously fun! Scroll on down and I’ll tell the story.
So we really wanted to get a few photos at the Statehouse. When we pulled up, the deployment flag was out which was so significant to them because both Jez & Zak have served in the Air force. We weren’t there 5 minutes and a police officer walks up and starts asking us questions. He asked if we were hired to take photos or friends, and we were honest and said hired… he then proceeded to tell us we had to leave. Needless to say we were a little bummed but he let us finish a few photos before escorting us off the property but not before he met the pizza delivery boy to get his pizza. I now know to tell them I am a friend shooting not a hired photographer… although that’s a lie and I’d feel so bad I wouldn’t be able to pull it off.
This is when we had our SECOND run in with the law… a cranky police man pulled up to us and abruptly says “get out of the road, someone is going to see you and hit you”. Who says that? Luckily we had gotten a ton of shots here already so we agreed to get out of the road. I think 5 cars passed us we were out there and all honked and said congrats. Definitely put that one down for the books, it was so fun walking on the “edge”.
We had such an amazing time at this wedding! Between this super in love couple and their awesome wedding party, it was a great 2nd wedding of 2014! Wishing them so many blessings on their marriage!
Coty looks like he’s got a diamond earring with some major bling!
