I have seen photographers spill their camera bags out for all to see so of course I had to share what is in our own personal bags! Coty’s camera bag is awesome since he carries a lot of gear, I will share his first!
I can’t help but look at his gear and be like… what the heck are you doing carrying all this? Well to be honest, he doesnt’ carry it all in this bag. We have another bag we keep some gear in, but he still carries most of this at one time. Coty’s bag is the ThinkTank Retrospective 20. Coty loves this bag, especially the comfort of it, the only thing he wishes he would have gotten a bigger size like the 40 or 50 so he could fit all of this gear in there.
As for the gear Coty carries/uses throughout the day here it is:
Camera Bodies– Nikon d800, Nikon d700 (backup), and pentax 645n (film)
Lenses– Nikon 70-200 2.8 VRII, this is what he uses most of the day, its a great lens, I wish it weren’t so heavy so I could use it more. Nikon 28mm 1.8G, used for wedding party photos, family photos, and dancing photos. Pentax 67 105mm 2.4, this is an amazing lens on our film cameras and takes beautiful images.
Speedlights– Nikon sb-900 and sb-800 as a backup. We use the Phottix Strato II for our ttl triggers.
Accessories– There are a few little extras we use such as our flashmate light meter and if we are shooting film then obviously our rolls of film. Coty loves his peak design capture camera clip. It allows him to carry a camera body on the outside of his bag attached to his bag’s shoulder strap or he can attach it to his belt and have it on his hip. He also carries the card holders, lens cleaner and extra batteries.
I think the only thing he doesn’t show here is his stash of Altoids. I have no idea why we haven’t taken advantage of our Costco membership and bought him a case because he buys one or two boxes before every wedding! I seriously have no idea how he doesn’t have a bad back but then again, his bag is extra comfy! Hope you enjoyed our second Behind the Camera post! I’m loving these!
