Elllllllk! I have a distinct memory of my grandparents telling me the story of them driving me up to Arrowhead springs in Cali and they would spot the cows and I’d let out a “MOOOOOOOOOOOO” that you couldn’t forget. I don’t think there was ever a time I’d visit them and they wouldn’t tell me this story. So here we are in Colorado with our 22 month old and she saw her first elk. By her second time seeing them there was no denying there was an elk in sight because she’d yell “elllllllllllllllllllllllk”. It was probably the most adorable thing but she definitely scared them off. In August I looked at my calender and decided there was no way I’d make it through the year if I didn’t get away. With a heavy heart and a very busy summer, I told coty “lets get away, go to Coloroado in October”. Yes. October. Crytober as I like to call it. We went away the busiest month of the year and I wouldn’t take it back for one second! We started our trip in Colorado Springs for some red rocks, feeding the giraffes at the zoo and Pike’s Peak. Coty and I got to know eachother a little more driving up to Pike’s Peak. I don’t like heights, lets just say it wasn’t a pretty drive. Then again it could have been, I had my head between my legs the whole way up. We then headed to Denver to see Jeremy & Kristin, despite the weird weather we had such fun there. Coty & Jeremy went on a little hike… okay so not so little more like I found a picture of Coty out of breath because apparently he’s not “used to the altitude” 🙂 And then came my favorite part, Estes Park. I cannot wait to go back. I loved it there. I’d love to see it in the spring. Elk went walking through town, our cabin was right at the base of the mountains near a stream, it was just perfection. If we didn’t have Molly I could have stayed a few more days. My heart and head needed the hiking, the breath of fresh air was good for all of us. Not to mention the beautiful photos we took. I did learn a few things on the flight home though. Molly and planes don’t mix.
Anyways, here are our digital pictures. Film photos coming soon!
