So as I sit here trying to figure out where to begin, a verse comes to mind that my Mom shared the other day on my family’s blog. “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.” Eph 6:10 I met Sarah on the bus in the 6th grade, we were on our way to school at Worthington Christian High School. Sarah lived down the street from me so it was easy that we’d pass notes during school and hang out sometimes. It seems forever ago but I still remember a note she passed me saying “Was Up?” I can’t believe years later we’d reconnect on facebook and she’d have children of her own already and be going through what she’s going through now.
Back in February I remember streams of friends posting that their friend Sarah’s daughter was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer and it took me a minute to register that they were talking about Sarah, Sarah McGuire, the Sarah that lived down the street from me in middle school, that Sarah?! My heart just broke for her and her family. Faith was born in July of 2003 so being 6 years old almost 7, its unimaginable to think she’d have such a short time left. Its one of those gut wrenching things to think about. As months passed and it felt like time was ticking, Faith came up with a list, a very sweet list of things she’d like to do in the time she has left. I think a lot of us in our lifetime have made a list like this but we think we have years to fulfill it. I think when Faith made this list she knew some things might not happen but its been amazing to see her cross off so many things off this list! Things like meeting Taylor Swift, have an ice cream named after her, have a spa party with her friends (which she’ll do tomorrow) and go to Disney World (which she will be doing next week). I had the privilege of getting to see her ride a horse drawn carriage provided by Granville Carriage Co. It was a perfect day to take a ride through Granville and I was so happy to be able to capture those moments with Faith and her family. I’m looking forward to doing this again tomorrow where she’ll be at a salon for a spay day and then a pretty big event tomorrow evening where she will be meeting Buddy from the Cake Boss. I know meeting Buddy was a huge thing on her list so I am more than excited for Faith to be crossing that off her list. God is so good and He is so great! I’m more than thankful that family, friends, the community and total strangers have come together for Faith to make her final days so memorable.
Here are some photos from our carriage ride on Wednesday!
