I can still remember the day I bought my wedding planner binder at Barnes and Noble. For a girl who had been planning her wedding since she was 5, it was an exciting day to buy the big binder with all the organized tabs and spots to fill in with vendor information! I lived on Theknot.com to get ideas for bouquets, ceremony and reception decor and the latest trends. I wish I had known about vendors blogs when I was engaged because I would have learned so much. So after the last couple years I’ve put together a list of questions I typically hear in client meetings and I also threw some extra questions that maybe you didn’t know to ask! I’ll admit I laugh a little when brides come in with a list they printed off from Theknot.com because I sometimes don’t know if they even know what they’re asking. So here are some honest to goodness great questions to ask your photographer. To get my answers
- Will you be the one shooting my wedding or will someone else be there? (This is a really important questions because some companies have several photographers working in the company and its crucial that you actually meet the photographer that will be shooting your wedding!)
- How long have you been in the business?
- How did you get started?
- Do you have any formal training?
- How many camera bodies do you have? (at least 2)
- How many lenses do you have? (at least 2)
- Do you pose clients or do you stand back and capture the moments as they come?
- At the end of the day, how many pictures do I get?
- Do you edit all the photos or just some of them?
- How long does it take to get my photos?
- Do you provide a disc with all the photos on it, and do we get the rights to all the prints?
- Do you design your albums or do you send them out to get designed?
- Am I able to choose the photos that go into my album or do you?
Those are just some great questions to ask a photographer in a client meeting. I think its so important to click with your photographer and the biggest reason is because you are with your photographers almost all day long and you need to be able to mesh with them as they document your big day.
